Why I Love Him So

There are so many reasons why I love my husband. When we first got married, I knew that he was gentle, focused, intelligent, protective, sweet -- you know the type of characteristics that a girl falls in love with.  Over the last few years, we've grown to understand each other more deeply and truly realize that we couldn't run this race without one another.

Being pregnant has allowed my love for him to grow so deep that I view him as completely different person.  I've learned so much more about him.  How so?  Ken has cared for me in so many ways during this journey (that I didn't know was possible because he's already so good at it) -- whether he demonstrates his love by cooking, showering me with an early 'push' gift, holding my hair back at the toilet (LOL), or sleeping next to me on the floor when I can't move from the sofa.  Insert photo below. Our first trimester has brought us closer -- so much closer -- in our relationship.

It sounds a little cliche because women often brag about having the best husband in the world. Well, I do. There isn't another guy in this world that can hold a candle to him. He is truly the best and why I love him so...

A Note From Daddy

Wow!  It’s weird to think that soon I’ll have a little one calling me “dad”.  I could never imagine a moment such as this, and yet, here it is.

It’s only right that I take time out and thank the One who has bestowed upon us this great fortune; My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His grace and mercy precedes us, His Love envelopes us, and His kindness humbles our lowly spirit.

I look forward with great anticipation to the moment when I, the proud father, will tell my child about the God of our salvation. I do these things that she or he might know the depth of God’s love for us, and be secured in the hope of eternity.

For I know that it is God’s Love that awakens a man’s soul from the depths of destruction. Thus, I will train our child to build up that which sustains the soul and in ways of righteousness. I pray that God be my reminder of the greatness of this responsibility. For it is His magnification that we desire, bless this child that this child might bless you our God.

I thank God today for my Lovely wife. In less than 6 months she will grant me our first child together. It’s amazing to see her deal with all that comes with the process and not allow any of those things to rob her of that Joy. Nonetheless, it’s been tough to see her struggle and for that reason I try as much as possible to provide some form of relief in those moments (Foot rubs, and lots of kisses).

My appreciation for her has grown daily, and not merely because she's carrying our child. She has been a great fuel for many of my achievements and a great support to my spiritual development. I look forward to each day I have with my wife and will continue to sing praises to God for her. I look forward with great anticipation to the day I get to hold both my wife and our child in my arms as we rest in God's security.

Our Anniversary Baby :: Part Two

Naturally, these last four weeks have been a tad bit different from the first seven.

During week eight, I started to experience nausea so bad that (at times) I just KNEW it (the vomit) was about to happen. Well, it finally happened during weeks nine and ten. I was miserable the entire night of October 23. It was so bad, my poor husband had to hold my hair back. I decided to sleep on the couch that night while he stuck it out next to me on the floor. What would I do without him? Luckily, this has only happened twice.
I went to the grocery store on the morning of October 19th to buy a few items for our traditional Sunday brunch.  The menu?  French toast, spinach omelets, and crab cakes.  I was so excited about cooking that I couldn’t WAIT to get started. As soon as I walked to the car, I started to gag but nothing happened. What the heck?! This wasn’t the first occurrence.  It’s so strange because one minute you’re fine and the next, you’re eating crackers and guzzling sprite to avoid a vomiting episode.

Staying Fit

I started working out with a personal fitness trainer this week.  Staying fit before, during, and after pregnancy has always been a top priority for our family. Also, eating healthy.

Ken is really good about staying disciplined when it comes to working out. Me, on the other hand, I'm horrible when it comes to actually getting in shape. Once I'm there, I'm good to go!

I had a conversation with my healthcare provider about what exercises I can and 'can't' do during pregnancy.  My current workout plan consists of high reps and low weight. To add, we toss in a few boxing exercises when neccessary.  Super exciting!

Although I was super sluggish when leaving the gym, I felt amazing the following day. High energy, great mood, and zero nausea!  Let's see how this journey continues...

Our Anniversary Baby :: Part One

Anniversary Date Night 2014

On the October 16th, I had a doctor’s appointment. Dr. Poindexter, my gynecologist and the absolute BEST at what he does, had a conversation with me about conception, my ovulation dates, our plans for children and so on. We had a conversation about my August ovulation dates and he quickly indicated that it was quite possible that I could be pregnant.  I ovulated a day or two after our five-year anniversary – so this is an anniversary baby!
After my appointment, I brushed it off, walked out of his office, and rushed back to work.
